Charles Csuri describes his role in the evolution of 3D and generative art

Artist to Frog, 1967 (SOLD)

I exploit the capabilities of the computer and don’t simply limit myself to always trying to predetermine what it is I want to do.

Organic Animations: 1990 to 2000s

Light Series Animations

Csuri was fascinated by the properties of glass, light, prismatic color and transparency. In the 80’s he spearheaded the technology to create these revolutionary, digital innovations shown shown in his Light Series animations. As a contrast to the frantic movement of animation in the gaming industry, Csuri produced fine art animations where the movement is undulating, deliberately slow and where objects unfold and are revealed as a form of meditation.

Csuri might indicate the plurality of a life and lifework that spanned most of the 20th century and beyond. It is the starting point to trace the path of an artist who made use of a broad range of media: drawing, painting, sculpture, and language as well as computer graphics, film, and animation - media in which Csuri counts among the recognized worldwide pioneers of technical innovation.
